Why am I not receiving push notifications in IC View Pro?

Updated 7 min read

This guide covers common reasons you may not receive event notifications in IC View Pro. Check the app's notification subscription first, then confirm that the recorder detects the event and is configured to send notifications.

Menu names and available settings may vary by recorder model, firmware, and app version.

Quick Troubleshooting Reference

Use the table below to identify which settings to check based on the issue you're experiencing.

Symptom What to Check
The recorder doesn't detect the event. Review the detection rule, active period, and AI configuration.
The recorder detects the event, but no push notification arrives. Check recorder notification settings, app subscriptions, permissions, and connectivity.
The event appears in IC View Pro's Alerts section, but there's no phone notification. Check the phone's notification permissions and Focus/Do Not Disturb settings.
Notifications work on one phone but not another. Compare each phone's subscriptions, app account, and notification settings.
Notifications arrive, but event footage is unavailable. Check the recording schedule, recording settings, and storage.

Notification Subscriptions

Confirm that IC View Pro is subscribed to the event type and camera channel you want notifications from.

  1. Open IC View Pro and locate the recorder on the home screen.
  2. Tap the menu icon next to the recorder and select Device Details.
  3. Under Alarm Setting, open Multi-Channel Alarm Subscription or Notification.
  4. Enable notifications and select the event types you want to receive.
  5. Select the appropriate camera channels.
  6. Tap Save.

The selected notification type must match the event configured on the camera or recorder.

Event Type Description
Motion Detection (MD) Basic motion detection based on changes in the image.
Intelligent Motion Detection (IMD/SMD) Motion detection with person and vehicle filtering on supported devices.
IVS Intelligent rules such as Intrusion and Tripwire.

For example, subscribing to basic Motion Detection won't subscribe you to a separately configured IVS Intrusion event.

Note: Notification subscriptions are configured per user, per camera. When a system is shared through the account system, the configured push notifications are also shared. Each user can customize their own subscriptions or disable notifications they don't want to receive.

For screenshots and detailed setup instructions, see IC View+ Push Notifications.

Motion and Intelligent Event Detection

If the app subscription is correct, confirm that the camera or recorder is detecting the event.

  1. Log in to the recorder using its web interface or local display.
  2. Open the relevant event settings, commonly under Event, Video Detection, or Alert Center, depending on the model.
  3. Select the affected channel and confirm the intended detection type is enabled.
  4. For IVS, check that the rule is configured and enabled. Some models also require the corresponding Smart Plan.
  5. Trigger the event and check whether the recorder registers it.

Detection Type Conflicts

AI by Camera and AI by Recorder

Some recorders offer AI by Camera and AI by Recorder processing. The correct setting depends on the specific feature and the capabilities of both devices. Some recorder-side AI features still require certain camera-side capabilities.

Don't switch AI processing modes as a general fix for missed notifications. First confirm that the configured detection feature is supported and that events are being generated.

If the recorder doesn't detect the event, correct the detection configuration before troubleshooting push delivery.

Recorder Notification Settings and Schedules

A recorder can detect an event without having all the settings required to send a mobile notification.

Recorder Settings

  • Check that the event's arming period/active schedule includes the time the event occurred.
  • On models that provide it, check Network > Cyber Security > System Service and confirm the mobile Push Notifications service is enabled.

Note: The Push Notifications service is enabled by default. This setting typically only needs to be checked if it was manually disabled.

Notification Periods in IC View Pro

If notifications arrive at some times but not others, check the configured notification periods.

Notification Method Where to Check
Recorder-Based Notifications On supported recorders, open Multi-Channel Alarm Subscription > Period Settings in IC View Pro and confirm the notification period covers the expected hours. Not all recorders support adjusting notification periods through the app.
Account System Notifications If you're using the IC View Pro account system, notification periods can be managed at the account level through the cloud. Navigate to Config > Settings > Notification Settings > Period to adjust the notification schedule across the account.

Recording and Event Playback

If notifications arrive but the associated footage can't be played back, confirm:

  • The recorder was scheduled to record at the time of the event.
  • The appropriate recording type was configured.
  • Storage is available and functioning.

User Account Permissions

Restricted recorder user accounts may lack the permissions required for notification features.

  1. Check the recorder account used to add the device to IC View Pro.
  2. On supported recorders, confirm the account has the appropriate Network and Security permissions.
  3. If the account is restricted, correct the missing permissions and test again.

The default administrator account generally has these permissions. There's no need to delete and re-add the recorder solely to investigate permissions.

Phone Notification Settings

If the recorder is detecting events and the app is subscribed to them, verify that your phone allows IC View Pro notifications.

iPhone

  1. Open Settings > Notifications > IC View Pro.
  2. Confirm Allow Notifications is enabled.
  3. Check Focus or Do Not Disturb settings that may silence alerts.

Android

  1. Open Settings > Apps > IC View Pro > Notifications. The path may vary by phone.
  2. Confirm notifications are allowed.
  3. Check Do Not Disturb and any notification restrictions affecting the app.

Check the App's Alert History

Open Alerts in IC View Pro to review received event notifications.

If the expected event appears in Alerts but no notification is displayed on the phone, check the phone's notification settings.

Connectivity and Firmware Compatibility

If the preceding settings are correct, check that the recorder and app are communicating properly.

  • Confirm the recorder is online and accessible through IC View Pro.
  • Verify the phone is using a current version of IC View Pro.
  • If you're using account-system features, confirm the recorder and firmware support them.

IC View Pro Account System

The account system supports features such as syncing devices across phones and temporary notification caching on compatible recorders. Some older models need firmware updates for these features, and some legacy recorders aren't supported.

Account-system support is not a requirement for all legacy push notifications. A recorder may support push notifications without supporting the newer account system.

See IC View Pro - Account System for model compatibility.

Only consider a firmware update as a fix when there's a known issue or compatibility requirement relevant to the recorder. Updating firmware isn't a guaranteed solution for missed notifications.
